Saratoga Fascinator...

How is everyone doing this evening?

I have been wanting to share the fascinator I made to wear for my sister-in-law's Bridal shower. Her theme was a Day at the Races and it was during Travers weekend in Saratoga Springs, NY. A big horse racing weekend! We had a lot of fun!! Anyway, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on one of those fancy fascinators that we have seen at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding. I wanted to make something cute, that coordinated with my outfit and was under $20. So here is what I came up with...

  Supplies Needed:
Faux Peony
Glue Gun
Plumes (Feathers-Joann Fabrics)
Feathers- White
Wired Ribbon
Satin Headband
Rhinestone adorned embellishment
1/2 yd pink bird cage veil netting

Step 1:
First, I took the stem off of the peony and then attached the loose feathers onto the flower with my glue gun.

Step 2:
I then laid out all of my materials. I then took the ribbon and made a bow and then adhered it to the headband.

Step 3:
I then adhered the flower with glue from my glue gun to the headband and ribbon. Also, during this step I cut the pink netting and made rounded edges and adhered the netting underneath the flower.

Step 4:
I then took the plume of feathers and separated part of the flower petals and adhered the base of the plume of feathers with my glue gun as close as I could get to the center of the flower so the plumes would stand up by themselves. I then fluffed the petals back to normal to cover up the base of the plumes.

Step 5:
I then took the rhinestones and randomly adhered them with fabric glue.

It was pretty simple overall and I played with the placement before I actually glued anything down. The only thing I would change is I would of adhered the flower a little to the side rather than towards the center of the headband.

The Final Product...

I also forgot to mention that I adhered the rhinestone embellishment to the center of the flower for extra sparkle.

Here is what it looks like on...

My Eyes look creepy in this pic, but it shows a good idea of how it turned out.

So, what do you think? Yay or Nay?

I did get tons of compliments at the Bridal Shower and it matched perfectly to my outfit. I am saddened though, because I did not get a picture at the shower with it on. Grrr!

Anyway, this weekend I am working on a lot of fall/halloween projects that are soon to come! I've also added a new addition to my office...a new project table!!

What are you doing to get ready for fall?

Stay tuned...
