Update: My Office

Good evening! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! It's been a busy one for sure, but today is my Friday! Woohoo! I am actually heading to Boston this weekend to see my hubby who has been gone forever, so it seems! I am definitely visiting the North End!! Anyway, a lot has been going on around here. I've been updating bits and pieces of my office finally and even though there is still so much more to do to get it out how I want it, it has seen lots of progress. Today, I am going to share a sneak peak of the progress...slowly but surely....

TA D A!!! So, this is one side of the office. I painted the walls with Slate by Restoration Hardware and a light gray, called Bedford Gray by Martha Stewart.

The 1st photo above has a few small projects that I can explain in another post, but I painted and added the ribbon to the letters, I also created the art framing the mirror. I also, found a great buy on that mirror! It was $15 at TJ Maxx in the clearance section.

The 2nd photo consists of the Audrey Hepburn print, the writing desk, and the eiffel tower lamp. The Audrey Hepburn piece I bought from one of my girlfriends. She had no use for it anymore. Let me tell you, my husband was questioning me what I was going to do with this print when I was putting in the car at our friend's house. Haha...I said don't worry about it. I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. It looks awesome in this space.

The writing desk was a "freebie" from the boutique I work at on the weekends. It was beat up and the paint was just so outdated. It was painted a creamy yellow with green stripes painted on the sides and flowers all over it. Ick!!! My Boss was just going to throw it away and I immediately said, "Oh No!, I'll take it." She asked me, "What are you going to do with it?" I said sand it down and paint it of course! It has such great bones! Well, look at it now? I went ahead and sanded it down and then made a chalk paint with 2 parts a cream paint leftover that we had with 2 parts plaster of paris. It gives it a shabby and rustic look. I then just distressed it with some sanding and adding some brown and black paint and rubbing and wiping it off. Voila!

The lamp I have had since college and it was purchased at Target. I needed a new shade so I found a plain white shade with gray trim at Lowe's Home Improvement for $14. Lastly, the magazine holders are not going to permanently stay there, but I got those in the dollar section at Target for $1 each. They are just a simple gray with white polka dots.

So, this is just one side of the room, but I need window treatments, a bookshelf, and some wall art and storage for the additional walls. Would love to put a chandelier in this room too, but it gets really warm, so I might have to keep my ceiling fan. Hmmphh!

My office has been done by a strict budget! I have been buying bits and pieces here and there and doing things little by little.

The breakdown of the cost of my room so far you may ask?

Paint: 2 gallons ~$30 each
Writing Desk- FREE
Crystal knob for drawer: $4
