Shabby Chic...

Hi all!!!

I wanted to share with you some beautiful furniture that one of my close friends has created from a drab piece of furniture into something shabby chic!!

My girlfriend, Sue, has found her calling. She loves to hunt and gather for old, vintage furniture that either someone has left on the side of the road or that she finds at garage sales,  or vintage shops and turns them into something "new." It may be someone's trash, but to her it is treasure.

I have done a few of my own pieces, such as, my writing desk and my little step stool, but my friend has painted and distressed I don't even know how many pieces. She either uses old paint that she has lying around the house, makes her own paint and just recently she has tested and used Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint.

I honestly can not wait to try out the milk paint as well! I have made my own and have wanted to try Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint too, but it has a steep price tag!!

Anyway, I wanted to share my friend's creations. She also sells her furniture, so if you are interested in something or are looking for something in particular message me or comment below. For living in North Carolina, the furniture state, we can surely dig in and find something and turn it into something new!

I believe she used flow blue,  correct me if I am wrong Sue!!

I just threw this one in here. This is the writing desk that I painted myself and that is in my current office. You should've seen this desk before....

So, have any of you brought trash to treasure? I would love to hear what you've made beautiful again. Feel free to share pictures too!

Looking into 2013!

Goodevening everyone!!

I can not believe my last post was December 13th. Needless to say, I did not to expect to be sooo incredibly busy. Life honestly took over. I was working 12 hour days, and then Christmas came and went, we lost a really close family member before New Year's and we have been focusing on house projects that lead me to now, where it has finally died down from my head spinning to a more relaxed state.

Although 2012 did not end great for our family, 2013 brought us a little excitement. We finally had our wood laminate floors installed! For all of you that know us, we have been wanting to do this since we moved into our house over 5 years ago. We've also had our pallet of flooring in the house since July. So...when the day came I was giddy!!

So, I wanted to share with you some new pictures. Please don't mind the mess around the house as I did not clearly stage the house, nor did I use proper lighting. :-/ Our existing floors were a mod podge of carpet, linoleum and hardwoods. Now that we have new flooring and it is all cohesive it looks so much bigger...no more transitions.

January has start off pretty good. We plan on doing a lot more projects of course. When owning a home it never ends. We are planning on finishing my husband's office/sun room and putting in air stone on one wall. That stuff looks amazing and so real, and supposedly it is really easy to do.

I also have a lot of projects that I have in my mind that I would like to get started on for La Maison Chic. The store has been lacking since the holidays and we need some reviving and some new products, so stay tuned.

Ok, so are you ready for my floors that I am so in love with?

So, what do you think? We are still in the market for some rugs, but it is coming a long....slowly but surely we will find what we are looking for.

Alright...well have a great week and stay tuned for updates, especially for La Maison Chic!

What day is it?

Good evening!

Ok, so what happened to my 25 days of Christmas themed posts?

Well, reality has kind of taken over and everything has been neglected. I have been working 12 hour days 7 days a week. It's been pretty crazy. I haven't even begun my Christmas shopping.

Anyway...I hope to catch up on my themes, b/c I have such cool ideas, but for now...here is some of my pics.
